Kitchen Drawer and Door Front Replacement — Cornish Place, Cornish Street, Sheffield
Project Overview
British Builders attended a residential property at Cornish Place, Cornish Street in Sheffield to carry out kitchen unit improvement works, including the replacement of damaged and worn kitchen drawer fronts and door fronts.
The existing kitchen units were generally serviceable, but several fronts showed visible signs of wear, damage, chipped edging and poor alignment. Some drawer and door fronts no longer presented well within the kitchen, affecting both the appearance and day-to-day usability of the space. Rather than replacing the full kitchen, the works focused on improving the existing units by replacing the affected front panels and adjusting the associated fittings.
The engineer carefully removed the existing damaged drawer fronts and door fronts, inspected the hinges, runners, fixings and handle positions, and fitted the replacement fronts to the existing kitchen carcasses. The work required careful alignment to ensure the replacement fronts sat correctly with the surrounding units, worktops, appliances and neighbouring panels.
Following installation, all doors and drawers were adjusted, tested and checked to confirm smooth opening and closing, consistent spacing and a neat overall finish. The completed works improved the presentation of the kitchen while keeping the original kitchen layout and units in place.

Challenges & Solutions
- Damaged kitchen fronts — Several existing drawer and door fronts had visible damage, chipped edges and worn sections. These were removed and replaced to improve both the look and usability of the kitchen.
- Working with existing kitchen units — The original cabinet carcasses remained in place, so the replacement fronts had to be fitted carefully to the existing layout. The engineer checked the condition of the units and adjusted the fittings as required.
- Alignment across multiple fronts — Because the work involved several drawers and doors, consistent spacing was important. Each front was aligned and adjusted to create a more even and professional appearance.
- Existing hinges and runners — Some fittings required inspection and adjustment before the new fronts could operate correctly. Hinges and runners were checked, secured and adjusted to support smooth movement.
- Maintaining the existing kitchen appearance — The works had to improve the damaged areas without replacing the entire kitchen. The replacement fronts were fitted to blend with the existing unit style as closely as possible.
- Working around appliances and tight kitchen areas — The kitchen included appliances, worktops, base units, wall units and corner sections. The engineer worked carefully around these areas to avoid unnecessary disruption.
Final Outcome
The kitchen drawer and door front replacement works were completed successfully. The damaged and worn fronts were removed, and new replacement fronts were installed to the existing kitchen units.
All fitted fronts were aligned and adjusted to improve the overall appearance of the kitchen. The drawer runners and door hinges were checked and adjusted so that the units opened and closed correctly, with improved spacing and a neater finish.
The work helped refresh the kitchen without requiring a full kitchen replacement. The completed installation made the kitchen look cleaner, more consistent and better maintained while preserving the existing layout and functionality.
The work area was cleaned down, loose debris and packaging were removed, and the kitchen was left tidy, functional and ready for use. The works were completed, accepted and approved on completion.
