Toilet Installation — Kirkfieldbank
Project Overview
British Builders completed a bathroom plumbing visit at a property on Riverside Road, Kirkfieldbank. The works involved removing the existing toilet and cistern, checking the surrounding plumbing connections, and installing a new close-coupled toilet suite.
Although the replacement was carried out within a compact bathroom area, the job required careful preparation, protection of nearby finishes, waste and water connection checks, secure fixing, sealing, and full testing to ensure the new toilet operated correctly and safely.
Scope of Work
- Inspected the existing toilet, cistern, water feed, and waste outlet connections
- Shut off the water supply and drained the existing cistern safely
- Protected the surrounding floor, wall surfaces, and bath area before removal
- Disconnected the water inlet and waste outlet from the existing toilet
- Removed the old toilet pan, cistern, seat, and associated fittings
- Supplied and installed a new close-coupled toilet suite
- Fitted new pan connectors, cistern fittings, and flush mechanism
- Connected the water supply and waste outlet using suitable seals and fittings
- Aligned and secured the new toilet to the floor and surrounding structure
- Tested the cistern filling, flushing operation, and all plumbing joints
- Applied silicone sealant around the toilet base for a neat waterproof finish
- Removed old fittings and waste from the work area
- Cleaned and tidied the bathroom on completion
Challenges & Solutions
- The existing toilet and cistern showed signs of wear and required full removal — The engineer disconnected and removed the old suite carefully to avoid damage to the surrounding bathroom.
- The bathroom layout provided limited working space — The area was protected and the installation was completed with controlled access around the bath and wall surfaces.
- Plumbing connections needed to be checked before fitting the new unit — The waste outlet, water feed, seals, and connectors were inspected and adjusted where required.
- The new toilet required accurate positioning — The pan and cistern were aligned, secured, sealed, and tested to confirm stable operation.
Final Outcome
The existing toilet was removed successfully and replaced with a new close-coupled toilet suite. New fittings and connectors were installed, the water supply and waste outlet were reconnected, and the toilet was fully tested for leaks, flushing performance, and secure fixing.
The bathroom was left clean and tidy, with the new toilet ready for normal use.
