Hot Water Repairs β Sheffield
Project Overview
British Builders attended a property on Midhill Crescent, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, following a reported issue with the hot water system not working correctly. Our engineer carried out a detailed inspection of the hot water controls, tank components, valves and radiator fittings to identify the cause of the fault.
The required works included servicing the hot water tank, replacing a faulty 2-port valve, installing a new heating and hot water programmer, and replacing two thermostatic radiator valves. The aim was to restore reliable hot water operation, improve heating control and ensure the full system responded correctly after repair.
Scope of Work
- Inspected the hot water system and heating controls
- Drained the hot water tank as required
- Cleaned and checked internal tank components
- Replaced faulty internal parts where required
- Removed and replaced the defective 2-port valve
- Checked wiring and valve connections
- Supplied and installed a new heating and hot water programmer
- Configured programmer settings for correct operation
- Replaced two thermostatic radiator valves
- Tested radiators, controls and hot water response
- Removed used parts and left the work areas clean
Challenges & Solutions
- The system had multiple related faults β Our engineer checked the programmer, valve operation, tank components and radiator controls before completing the repairs.
- The hot water flow control was not operating correctly β A faulty 2-port valve was replaced and tested to confirm proper system response.
- The existing programmer was outdated and unreliable β A new programmer was fitted and configured to restore heating and hot water scheduling.
- Radiator control also required attention β Two TRVs were replaced to improve room-by-room heating control.
Final Outcome
The hot water and heating system was restored to proper working order, with new controls, replacement valve components and improved radiator regulation. The system was tested after installation to confirm safe operation, correct scheduling and reliable response.
All waste and removed parts were cleared from site, and the work areas were left clean and tidy on completion.
