Carpet Replacement and Banister Repairs — Sheffield

Project Overview

British Builders completed a practical internal maintenance package at a property on Thrush Street, Sheffield. The works focused on replacing the carpet in the attic room with a durable finish selected to match the existing stair carpet as closely as possible, helping the upper floor feel more consistent and presentable.

The photos show the attic bedroom, stair landing, carpeted staircase, green painted storage and banister sections, and areas where the banister post and surrounding joinery required attention. Although this was a focused maintenance job, the works involved careful preparation, carpet handling, joinery adjustment, repainting and clean-down to improve both appearance and everyday usability.

Scope of Work

• Inspected the attic room, stair landing and existing banister area before starting the works.
• Removed the existing worn carpet from the attic room where required.
• Supplied and fitted a new durable carpet to the attic room, selected to closely match the carpet on the stairs.
• Trimmed and finished carpet edges neatly around walls, skirting, door thresholds and awkward corner areas.
• Checked whether any suitable sections of existing carpet could be reused in secondary or storage areas to reduce waste.
• Inspected the damaged or worn banister post and surrounding staircase fixings.
• Replaced or repaired the affected banister post to restore a safer and more stable finish.
• Secured the repaired banister section and checked for movement after fixing.
• Repainted the new post and surrounding repaired areas to help match the existing staircase style.
• Removed waste materials and left the attic room and staircase area clean and tidy.

Challenges & Solutions

• The attic room required a carpet finish that matched the existing stairs — a close colour and texture match was used to keep the upper floor consistent.
• The banister post showed signs of wear and instability — the affected section was repaired or replaced and secured properly.
• The stair and landing areas had limited working space — materials were handled carefully to avoid damage to existing finishes.
• The repaired timber needed to blend with the existing green and white staircase detail — repainting was carried out for a cleaner, more cohesive finish.

Final Outcome

The attic room carpet was replaced with a clean, durable finish that works with the existing stair carpet and improves the overall presentation of the upper floor. The space now feels fresher, more comfortable and better prepared for regular use.

The banister repair improved stability and appearance around the staircase, with the affected post and surrounding areas finished neatly. All waste was removed, and the property was left clean and tidy on completion.
