Boiler Valve Replacement β Folds Lane, Sheffield
Project Overview
British Builders attended a residential property on Folds Lane, Sheffield, to carry out heating system repairs involving a Baxi boiler. The works focused on replacing the faulty diverter valve, improving the circulation and performance of the system, and addressing visible wear to the surrounding boiler components and flue fixing.
The job included safe isolation, removal of the defective valve, installation of a Baxi-compatible replacement part, system flushing, balancing and final testing. The engineer also reviewed the visible pipework, radiator performance and boiler connections to ensure the system was operating reliably before handover.
Scope of Work
- Attended the property to inspect the Baxi boiler and associated heating system faults.
- Safely isolated the boiler, heating controls and water supplies before starting the repair.
- Removed the existing faulty diverter valve from the boiler assembly.
- Supplied and installed a Baxi-compatible diverter valve, using an OEM or approved equivalent part.
- Checked surrounding pipework, fittings and visible connections during the repair.
- Reconnected and secured the new valve to ensure correct operation within the boiler system.
- Inspected the heating circulation and prepared the system for flushing.
- Carried out a full power flush using suitable cleaner and inhibitor chemicals.
- Removed sludge, debris and contaminants from the heating circuit where accessible.
- Balanced the heating system to improve radiator performance and circulation.
- Checked the affected radiators and pipework after flushing and refilling.
- Repaired the corroded flue clip and checked the visible flue fixing condition.
- Restored the boiler supply and tested the system through heating and hot water operation.
- Checked for leaks around the new diverter valve and related connections.
- Provided basic maintenance guidance to help support future system performance.
- Removed waste materials and left the work area clean and tidy.
Challenges & Solutions
- The boiler required component-level access β the engineer isolated the system and removed the failed valve carefully to avoid unnecessary disturbance to surrounding pipework.
- The heating system showed signs of internal contamination β a full power flush was completed with cleaner and inhibitor to improve circulation and protect the new component.
- System performance needed to be checked beyond the boiler itself β radiators and heating circulation were tested and balanced after the repair.
- The flue clip showed corrosion β the affected fixing was repaired to improve the visible condition and security of the flue arrangement.
Final Outcome
The faulty diverter valve was replaced with a suitable Baxi-compatible part, restoring the boilerβs ability to direct heating and hot water correctly. The system was flushed, treated with chemicals and balanced to support more reliable heating performance across the property.
Following completion, the boiler was tested, the pipework and valve connections were checked for leaks, and the repaired flue clip was reviewed. The work area was left clean and tidy, with the heating system returned to a safe and serviceable condition.
