Combi boiler installation and heating system testing in Sheffield

Boiler Replacement — Sicey Avenue, Sheffield

Project Overview

British Builders carried out a boiler replacement at a residential property on Sicey Avenue, Sheffield. The existing boiler was due for removal and replacement with a new standard combi boiler to restore reliable heating and hot water for the property.

The works included safe disconnection, system draining, removal of the old appliance, installation of the new combi boiler, pipework connections, commissioning, safety checks, radiator bleeding, and final testing. The surrounding utility area was kept organised throughout, with all removed materials and packaging cleared on completion.

Scope of Work
  • Inspected the existing boiler position, controls, pipework, flue route, and service connections before starting works.
  • Safely isolated the gas, water, and electrical supplies serving the existing boiler.
  • Drained the heating system to prevent leaks or water damage during removal.
  • Disconnected and removed the old boiler from the property.
  • Prepared the wall area and existing pipework connections for the new installation.
  • Supplied and installed a new standard 25–30kW combi boiler.
  • Installed the required fittings, pipework adjustments, and boiler accessories.
  • Connected the new boiler to the existing central heating and hot water system.
  • Checked gas, water, and heating connections for secure fitting and correct operation.
  • Reviewed visible pipework condition and adjusted connections where required for a safe installation.
  • Set up the boiler controls and checked the display, pressure, and operating functions.
  • Bled radiators and checked circulation through the heating system.
  • Tested hot water performance and central heating output after installation.
  • Carried out final safety checks and system commissioning.
  • Provided the manufacturer’s warranty and arranged the required Building Regulation Certificate.
  • Removed packaging, old boiler waste, and installation debris from the work area.

Challenges & Solutions
  • The existing boiler and pipework were located within a compact service area — the installation was planned carefully to maintain access and complete the replacement safely.
  • The old appliance required full isolation and draining before removal — this was completed in a controlled manner to avoid leaks and disruption.
  • The new combi boiler needed to connect into the existing heating and hot water system — pipework and fittings were adjusted to suit the new appliance.
  • The system required full post-installation testing — radiators were bled, pressure was checked, and heating and hot water were tested before handover.

Final Outcome

The old boiler was safely removed and replaced with a new combi boiler, restoring the property’s heating and hot water system. All main connections were secured, the boiler was commissioned, and the system was tested for correct operation.

The work area was cleaned after completion, with packaging and waste removed from site. The property was left with a functioning boiler installation, improved heating reliability, and the required certification and warranty process completed.
