Integrated Washing Machine Installation — Bates Street, Sheffield

Project Overview

British Builders attended a residential property on Bates Street, Sheffield, to complete the replacement and installation of an integrated washing machine. The existing appliance required removal from a fitted kitchen unit, including disconnection from the water supply, waste pipework and electrical outlet before the new machine could be safely positioned and tested.

This was completed as a full appliance replacement and installation package rather than a simple swap-over. The work involved carefully removing the old unit from a confined built-in space, checking the surrounding cabinet area, inspecting the visible plumbing connections beneath the sink, positioning the new integrated washing machine, connecting the water feed and drainage, and completing operational testing. The old appliance, packaging and waste materials were removed from the work area, leaving the kitchen tidy and ready for continued use.

Scope of Work
  • Inspected the existing integrated washing machine and surrounding kitchen unit before removal.
  • Carefully disconnected the old washing machine from the electrical outlet.
  • Turned off and disconnected the water supply connection.
  • Disconnected the drainage hose and checked the visible waste pipework beneath the sink.
  • Removed the existing washing machine from the built-in kitchen space with care to avoid damage to the surrounding units and worktop.
  • Transported the old appliance out of the property for responsible disposal or recycling.
  • Checked the installation area for access, alignment and available service connections.
  • Unboxed and inspected the new integrated washing machine before installation.
  • Positioned the new appliance into the designated space beneath the kitchen worktop.
  • Levelled and aligned the appliance to sit correctly within the fitted unit opening.
  • Connected the new washing machine to the existing water supply.
  • Connected the appliance to the drainage system and checked the waste connection.
  • Connected the washing machine to the electrical outlet for safe operation.
  • Completed a test cycle to confirm correct filling, draining and spinning performance.
  • Checked for leaks around the water feed, waste connection and appliance base.
  • Removed packaging materials, cleared debris and left the kitchen area clean and tidy.

Challenges & Solutions
  • The appliance was installed within a tight integrated kitchen space — the old unit was removed carefully to protect the surrounding cabinets, flooring and worktop.
  • The plumbing connections were located within a busy under-sink area — the visible pipework and waste connection were checked before reconnecting the new appliance.
  • The new washing machine needed to sit correctly within the fitted opening — it was positioned, aligned and adjusted to provide a neat integrated finish.
  • Functionality had to be confirmed before handover — a test cycle was completed to check water intake, drainage, spin operation and any signs of leakage.
  • The property needed to remain clean and usable after the works — the old appliance and packaging were removed, and the kitchen area was cleaned down on completion.

Final Outcome

The old washing machine was successfully disconnected, removed and taken away from the property. The new integrated washing machine was then installed in the existing kitchen space, connected to the water supply, drainage and electrical outlet, and adjusted to sit neatly beneath the worktop.

A full operational test was carried out to confirm the appliance filled, drained and ran correctly, with checks completed around the connections to ensure there were no visible leaks. The installation area was cleaned, packaging was removed, and the kitchen was left tidy and ready for tenant use.

The completed works provided the property with a working replacement appliance and a cleaner, more reliable installation within the fitted kitchen layout.
