Window Replacement — Sheffield
Project Overview
British Builders attended a residential property on Orchard Road, Walkley, Sheffield, to complete a bathroom window replacement. The existing PVC bathroom window and surrounding seals required replacement to improve weather protection, ventilation control, privacy, and the overall condition of the bathroom opening.
The photos show the existing bathroom window from both the internal and external sides, including the brickwork surround, internal tiled reveals, window frame, handle area, and frosted glazing. As this was a bathroom installation, particular attention was given to creating a secure, watertight and airtight finish around the frame to help prevent draughts, leaks and moisture-related issues.
To provide a more complete result, the work included careful removal of the old window, preparation of the opening, installation of a new PVC window, insulation and sealing around the frame, finishing trims where required, and final checks to confirm correct opening, closing and locking.
Scope of Work
- Inspected the existing bathroom window, frame, seals, and surrounding internal and external finishes.
- Checked the window opening from both inside the bathroom and outside the property.
- Carefully removed the existing PVC window, including the frame and damaged sealing materials.
- Disposed of the old window and removed installation waste from the work area.
- Prepared the window opening to ensure a clean and suitable base for the new installation.
- Checked the surrounding brickwork, internal reveals, and bathroom tiled edges before fitting.
- Supplied and installed a new standard PVC bathroom window to the correct size and specification.
- Aligned and secured the new window frame within the opening.
- Applied insulation foam and sealing materials around the frame to reduce draughts and improve weather protection.
- Completed internal and external sealing to create a watertight and airtight finish.
- Fitted and adjusted finishing trims where required around the window surround.
- Checked the window handle, opening action, closing alignment, and locking function.
- Cleaned the surrounding bathroom and external work area after installation.
- Completed a final inspection to confirm the window was secure, sealed and fully operational.
Challenges & Solutions
- The window was located in a bathroom, where moisture control is especially important — the new PVC window was installed with careful internal and external sealing to help prevent water ingress and draughts.
- The surrounding tiled reveals and external brickwork needed to be protected during removal — the old frame was taken out carefully to avoid unnecessary damage to the bathroom finish and brick opening.
- The window needed to provide privacy while still allowing natural light into the bathroom — a suitable frosted glazed PVC unit was fitted to maintain privacy and improve the overall appearance.
- The frame required accurate alignment within the existing opening — the new window was positioned, fixed and checked to ensure smooth operation and secure locking.
- The final finish needed to look neat from both inside and outside — trims, sealant and clean-up works were completed to provide a professional result.
Final Outcome
The bathroom was left with a newly installed PVC window that provides improved privacy, security, weather protection and day-to-day functionality. The old window and damaged seals were removed, the opening was prepared properly, and the new unit was fitted securely into position.
The internal and external seals were completed to help reduce the risk of draughts, leaks and moisture penetration around the frame. The window was checked for correct opening, closing and locking, ensuring it was practical and safe for continued bathroom use.
All waste materials were removed from site, and the surrounding work area was cleaned after completion. The finished installation provided a cleaner, more reliable and more professional bathroom window replacement for the property.
