Plastering, painting and smoke alarm installation in Sheffield

Plastering Works β€” Sheffield

Project Overview

British Builders attended a residential property on Thrush Street, Sheffield, to complete kitchen plastering, painting and smoke alarm installation works. The job focused on improving the finish of the kitchen back wall, decorating the door frame area and installing new battery-powered smoke alarms throughout the property.

The photos show the kitchen area, boiler wall, back door frame, window area and newly fitted smoke alarms. Our operative prepared the affected kitchen surfaces, completed plastering where required, applied a suitable painted finish and installed four new smoke alarms in appropriate locations.

This was a multi-area maintenance job requiring surface preparation, plaster repair, decorating, safety alarm installation and final checks across the property.

Scope of Work
  • Inspected the kitchen back wall, door frame and surrounding surfaces before starting the works.
  • Prepared the affected wall areas by removing loose material and cleaning the working surfaces.
  • Carried out plastering repairs to the kitchen back wall to provide a smoother and more even finish.
  • Allowed for suitable preparation around the boiler, pipework, window and kitchen fittings.
  • Sanded and prepared the repaired areas ready for decoration.
  • Painted the newly plastered kitchen wall using a suitable matching or similar finish.
  • Prepared and painted the kitchen door frame to improve the overall appearance.
  • Checked the surrounding painted areas and completed touch-ups where required.
  • Supplied and installed four new battery-powered smoke alarms.
  • Positioned the smoke alarms in suitable areas for improved property safety coverage.
  • Tested the alarms after installation to confirm correct operation.
  • Completed a final inspection of the plastering, painting and alarm installation works.
  • Removed leftover materials and left the kitchen and surrounding areas clean and tidy.

Challenges & Solutions
  • The kitchen back wall required careful preparation around the boiler, exposed pipework, shelves and electrical fittings, so the area was worked on in sections to avoid damage.
  • The existing surfaces showed signs of previous fixing marks and uneven finishes, which needed plastering and preparation before painting.
  • The door frame required neat cutting-in and finishing to improve the appearance without affecting the surrounding kitchen areas.
  • The smoke alarms were installed and tested individually to confirm they were working correctly before completion.

Final Outcome

The kitchen back wall was plastered and painted to provide a cleaner, smoother and more presentable finish. The kitchen door frame was also painted, improving the overall appearance of the area.

Four new battery-powered smoke alarms were installed and tested, helping to improve safety provision within the property. All work areas were checked, cleaned and left tidy on completion.
