Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Last updated: 12 August 2026

Our Commitment

At British Builders, the human rights of people working for or with us are of the utmost importance. We are committed to a robust and collaborative approach to addressing modern slavery and human trafficking in line with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

We take steps to ensure that our supply chains and our own operations are free from modern slavery, forced labour, and human rights abuses. To do this we:

  • Adopt a Responsible Supply Chain approach with all partners.
  • Record and maintain an annual supplier declaration of compliance.
  • Track and report any concerns or incidents of modern slavery.
  • Provide procurement staff with appropriate training and guidance.

Our business

British Builders is a privately owned, London-based services provider operating throughout the UK. We deliver a wide range of services including:

  • Construction and building works.
  • Property management and maintenance repairs.
  • Mobile application, surveys, and planning services.

We partner with hundreds of suppliers nationwide. How we approach our business is as important as what we do. Our purpose — “Partners in Your Property Journey” — underpins our values of teamwork, performance, leadership, integrity, transparency, and being easy to work with.

We carefully select suppliers and expect them to uphold our values. The delivery of high-quality services for our clients depends on suppliers understanding and meeting these expectations.

Our risks

The majority of our suppliers are UK-based. However, a small proportion of our supply chain involves offshore services, particularly manual processes and IT solutions (including in Ukraine). We recognise that offshoring can present a higher risk due to recruitment practices and working conditions outside our direct influence.

Managing our risks

To mitigate these risks, we:

  • Require all suppliers to confirm annually their commitment to modern slavery compliance.
  • Integrate modern slavery checks into our procurement and supplier onboarding processes.
  • Record and escalate any concerns to our Leadership Team and Board of Directors.
  • Provide a dedicated confidential reporting channel for suppliers and stakeholders to raise concerns about human rights abuses.

Training

We ensure our procurement and supplier management teams receive training on:

  • Our Purpose and Values.
  • How to escalate and address potential concerns.

This training ensures that all staff understand the importance of protecting human rights and the implications that modern slavery can have for our customers, our suppliers, our people, and our business.

Governance

This statement was approved by Donald Smith, Managing Director, on behalf of the Board of Directors of British Builders on 7 August 2026, and will be reviewed and updated annually in line with UK Government requirements.
