Light and Toilet Repairs — Cosham
Project Overview
British Builders carried out electrical and plumbing reinstatement works at a residential property on Dean Rd in Cosham, Portsmouth. The works followed previous ceiling installation and bathroom repair activity, where several ceiling light fittings were left loose or hanging and the downstairs WC required replacement.
The project focused on making the affected areas safe, functional and ready for everyday use again. This included securing and testing ceiling lights across the property, installing a new bathroom light fitting, removing the failed toilet assembly and fitting a new close-coupled WC with associated pipework checks.
Scope of Work
- Inspection of loose, hanging and affected ceiling light fittings throughout the property
- Reinstatement of secure fixing points where original ceiling supports were no longer suitable
- Refitting and securing of affected ceiling light fittings after ceiling works
- Supply and installation of a new bathroom light fitting
- Safe electrical connection and testing of all reinstated light fittings
- Isolation and removal of the existing downstairs WC assembly
- Preparation of the toilet area before fitting the replacement unit
- Supply and installation of a new close-coupled toilet suite
- Renewal and checking of associated toilet connectors, seals and pipework where required
- Final testing of light operation, toilet flush cycle and watertight performance
Challenges & Solutions
- Loose light fittings after ceiling works — The affected fittings were refixed securely and tested to confirm safe operation.
- Missing or weakened ceiling fixing points — Suitable support points were reinstated where required so the lights could be mounted safely.
- Failed downstairs toilet assembly — The old WC was removed and replaced with a new close-coupled toilet, with connections checked for leaks.
- Working across several occupied rooms — The works were completed carefully across the bathroom, hallway, bedrooms and utility areas, with final checks carried out before handover.
Final Outcome
The electrical reinstatement works were completed successfully, with loose and hanging light fittings secured back into position. The new bathroom light was installed, connected safely and tested to confirm correct operation.
The downstairs toilet was replaced with a new close-coupled suite, secured to the floor and tested for proper flushing and watertight performance. All approved works were completed to a safe and functional standard, and the work areas were left clean and tidy on completion.
