Bathroom Floor and Panel Replacement
Project Overview
British Builders completed bathroom remedial works at a property on Churchill Road, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. The work was required after prolonged water ingress had affected the bath panel area, surrounding floor sections, and the ceiling surface below.
Although the visible repair area appeared compact, the job involved a careful strip-out, inspection of concealed damage, removal of rotten flooring, preparation of the subfloor, installation of a new moisture-resistant base, replacement bath panels, and associated kitchen plastering repairs. Due to asbestos information provided for the property, the works were carried out with extra care and without disturbing the bathroom or kitchen ceilings.
Scope of Work
- Reviewed the affected bathroom area and visible signs of water damage
- Protected surrounding fixtures before starting the removal works
- Carefully removed the existing bath end and side panels
- Exposed the damaged flooring beneath and around the bath area
- Removed rotten and moisture-damaged floor sections
- Removed the existing vinyl flooring to allow subfloor inspection
- Checked adjoining areas for visible signs of further water ingress
- Prepared the floor area for reinstatement
- Supplied and installed a new moisture-resistant base floor
- Fitted new bath end and side panels securely in place
- Sealed and finished the panel edges to provide a neat, watertight finish
- Carried out plastering repairs to the kitchen area affected by previous water ingress
- Prepared the repaired plaster surface to a smooth, paint-ready condition
- Removed waste materials and left the areas clean and safe
Challenges & Solutions
- The existing bath panels were heavily degraded from moisture exposure β They were carefully removed and replaced with new panels to restore the bathroom finish.
- Rotten timber and damaged flooring were found beneath the bath area β The affected sections were removed and replaced with a more suitable moisture-resistant base.
- The repair needed to be completed around existing pipework and bathroom fixtures β The engineer worked carefully to avoid unnecessary disruption to the bath, waste pipework, and surrounding walls.
- Asbestos information had been provided for the property β The ceiling areas were not disturbed, and the work was kept to the approved floor, panel, and plaster repair areas.
- Water ingress had also affected the kitchen ceiling/wall surface below β The damaged plaster was made good and finished ready for decoration.
Final Outcome
The bathroom remedial works were completed successfully. The damaged and rotten flooring was removed, a new base floor was installed, and new bath panels were fitted securely to provide a cleaner and more durable finish around the bath.
The affected kitchen plaster area was also repaired and prepared to a smooth, paint-ready standard. All debris was removed from site, and the bathroom and kitchen areas were left clean, safe, and ready for final decoration or further finishing if required.
