Skirting and Curtain Works β Sheffield
Project Overview
British Builders attended a residential apartment at Wicker Riverside, Sheffield, to complete internal finishing works across the living area and two bedrooms. The job included removing and replacing skirting boards, making good around the floor and wall junctions, and preparing the rooms for a cleaner finished appearance.
The photos show exposed wall bases below large window areas, removed skirting sections, minor damage around the existing trims, and preparation works taking place before reinstatement. The scope was handled as a coordinated maintenance package, including new MDF skirting installation and curtain pole fitting to both bedrooms, helping improve the finish and usability of the rooms without turning it into a large refurbishment.
Scope of Work
- Carefully removed existing skirting boards from the two bedrooms and living area.
- Inspected exposed wall bases and window-side areas before reinstatement.
- Disposed of damaged or unsuitable skirting sections where replacement was required.
- Supplied and fitted new MDF skirting boards to suit the existing interior finish.
- Secured skirting boards using appropriate fixings and adhesive.
- Neatly sealed joints, mitres, corners, and visible fixing points.
- Made good surrounding areas ready for decoration and final finishing.
- Supplied and installed curtain poles in both bedrooms.
- Measured curtain pole positions to suit the bedroom window dimensions.
- Cleaned the work areas and removed loose waste on completion.
Challenges & Solutions
- Long exposed sections below window areas β new skirting was fitted and aligned to provide a continuous clean finish.
- Existing trims showed damage and uneven fixing points β damaged sections were removed and replaced with suitable MDF skirting.
- Multiple rooms required coordinated finishing β the work was planned as one package to keep the finish consistent throughout.
- Bedroom curtain installation needed accurate positioning β poles were measured and fixed securely to suit the window layouts.
Final Outcome
The skirting board works were completed across the living area and bedrooms, with new boards fitted, sealed, and made good to improve the overall internal finish. The exposed lower wall sections were covered neatly, giving the rooms a cleaner and more complete appearance.
Curtain poles were also installed in both bedrooms, providing a practical finish to the window areas. The property was left tidy, with the completed works ready for final decoration and normal use.
