Electrical Appliance Replacement β Sheffield
Project Overview
British Builders attended a property on Cundy Street, Sheffield, following reported electrical issues affecting both the bathroom and kitchen areas. The inspection found that the electric shower unit had been compromised by water ingress, causing the electrics to trip and making the unit unsafe for continued use.
The kitchen oven was also inspected and confirmed as non-operational. The photos show the existing oven and hob area, access behind the oven housing, the local socket supply, and the electric shower unit. This job required a careful safety-led approach, including fault identification, isolation of the unsafe shower unit, appliance checks and clear recommendations for replacement.
Scope of Work
- Attended the property to investigate reported electrical faults affecting the kitchen and bathroom.
- Inspected the electric shower unit and confirmed water ingress had compromised the unit.
- Identified that the shower fault was causing the property electrics to trip.
- Isolated the faulty shower unit to make the installation safe.
- Checked the existing electric oven and confirmed it was not operational.
- Inspected the oven housing, supply area and surrounding kitchen fittings.
- Confirmed that the shower unit requires full replacement due to safety concerns.
- Confirmed that the oven requires removal and replacement to restore kitchen functionality.
- Provided clear recommendations for the required replacement works.
Challenges & Solutions
- The shower unit had suffered water ingress, creating a serious electrical safety risk β the faulty unit was isolated immediately.
- The kitchen oven was no longer functioning β replacement was recommended rather than temporary repair.
- The faults affected two separate areas of the property β both bathroom and kitchen appliances were inspected during the same attendance.
- Access behind the kitchen appliance area required careful checking β the supply and housing area were reviewed before recommendations were made.
Final Outcome
The unsafe electric shower unit was isolated to prevent further tripping and reduce immediate risk to the property. The oven was inspected and confirmed as requiring replacement, with the findings clearly reported for follow-up works.
Both appliance issues were assessed as part of a wider electrical maintenance visit, allowing the client to proceed with the required shower and oven replacements in a planned and safe way. The work area was left tidy following inspection.
