Shed Removal and Damp Treatment — South Kenton
Project Overview
British Builders completed a combined external and internal repair package at a property on Thirlmere Gardens, South Kenton. The works focused on removing a leaking shed roof structure positioned against the property wall and treating the water-damaged entrance area inside the home.
The photos show the shed structure built close to the external wall, signs of water staining around the entrance ceiling and wall area, and the repaired internal surfaces after preparation and painting. Although the issue was localised, the work required careful dismantling, waste removal, damp preparation, stain blocking, sealing and repainting to prevent further deterioration and restore a clean finish.
Scope of Work
- Carefully inspected the shed roof and adjoining wall area where water ingress had been reported.
- Dismantled and removed the existing shed roof section causing water to collect and leak between the shed and property wall.
- Cleared roofing debris and associated waste materials from the external working area.
- Prepared the entrance wall and ceiling affected by damp staining and water marks.
- Applied stain blocker to visible discoloured areas to prevent marks bleeding through the final finish.
- Applied damp seal treatment to affected wall and ceiling surfaces.
- Allowed appropriate drying time before decorating.
- Finished the treated areas with white emulsion for a clean and consistent appearance.
Challenges & Solutions
- The shed roof was positioned tightly against the property wall, creating a risk of continued water ingress — the affected section was removed to stop water being trapped at the junction.
- Internal staining had spread across the entrance ceiling and upper wall area — surfaces were treated with stain blocker and damp seal before repainting.
- The external area had limited working space — the shed roof was dismantled carefully and waste was removed in stages.
- The finish needed to blend with the existing entrance décor — white emulsion was applied for a neat and uniform result.
Final Outcome
The leaking shed roof section was removed, reducing the risk of further water ingress against the property wall. The entrance wall and ceiling were prepared, sealed, stain blocked and repainted, leaving the internal area cleaner, brighter and better protected from visible damp staining.
All waste materials were removed from the property, and the internal and external work areas were left clean and tidy on completion.
