Bathroom and Kitchen Repairs — Maidenhead
Project Overview
British Builders carried out approved bathroom and kitchen repair works at a residential property on Hatfield Close in Maidenhead, Berkshire. The works covered several maintenance issues across the property, including a faulty bathroom light switch, a failed bathroom ceiling light, a cooker hood light fault, peeling kitchen plaster, damaged bathroom sealing and non-functional bathroom ventilation.
The project focused on restoring safe electrical operation, improving bathroom ventilation, repairing damaged kitchen finishes and reinstating watertight sealing in the upstairs bathroom. The works were completed as a coordinated multi-trade maintenance visit, with all affected fittings tested and the repaired areas left clean, safe and ready for normal use.
Scope of Work
- Safe isolation of relevant electrical circuits before starting the works
- Removal and replacement of the faulty bathroom light switch
- Installation of a new bathroom-rated switch suitable for moisture-prone areas
- Removal and replacement of the faulty bathroom ceiling light with a new IP44 LED unit
- Inspection and repair of the kitchen extractor hood light fault
- Replacement of the failed cooker hood light module or holder where required
- Removal of loose and peeling kitchen plaster from affected wall areas
- Priming, patch plastering, sanding and blended painting of kitchen wall repairs
- Removal of degraded upstairs bathroom sealing rubber and preparation of surfaces
- Installation of new high-grade silicone and rubber inserts for improved water protection
- Inspection of the bathroom ventilation system and replacement of the extractor fan where required
- Supply and installation of a new blind with secure fixing points and smooth operation
- Final testing of lighting, extractor fan, cooker hood light and completed fittings
- Clean-down of all work areas and removal of installation waste from site
Challenges & Solutions
- Multiple small faults across bathroom and kitchen areas — The works were organised as a coordinated maintenance visit, allowing each issue to be inspected, repaired and tested in sequence.
- Bathroom electrical fittings in moisture-prone areas — Suitable bathroom-rated components were installed, with circuits isolated and tested to confirm safe operation.
- Peeling and unstable kitchen plaster — Loose material was removed, the surface was primed, patch-plastered, sanded and finished with a blended paint coat.
- Damaged bathroom sealing and poor ventilation — Degraded seals were replaced, and the non-functional extractor fan was renewed to help reduce moisture build-up and future deterioration.
Final Outcome
The approved bathroom and kitchen repair works were completed successfully. The bathroom light switch and ceiling light were replaced with suitable components, the cooker hood light was restored, and the ventilation system was improved with a replacement extractor fan where required.
The kitchen plaster repair was made good with a smooth blended finish, while the upstairs bathroom sealing was renewed to improve water resistance around affected areas. The new blind was fitted securely, all installations were tested, and the property was left clean and tidy on completion.
