Bathroom Leak Prevention — Manvers Road, Sheffield

Project Overview

British Builders carried out bathroom leak prevention works at a residential property on Manvers Road, Sheffield, where water was escaping around the bath area during shower use. The existing bath frontage showed visible cracking and poor protection, creating a risk of water passing beneath the bath and potentially affecting the flooring and ceiling below.

The job involved a wider improvement package around the bath surround, including removal of the damaged panel, installation of new bath panels and cladding, reinforcement of exposed fixing points, and waterproof sealing to vulnerable joints. The work was completed to create a cleaner, stronger and more dependable barrier for everyday bathroom use.

Scope of Work
  • Inspected the bath area to identify where water could escape during shower use.
  • Checked the condition of the existing bath panel, side sections and lower edges.
  • Removed the damaged bath panel and prepared the area for new installation works.
  • Supplied and installed new bath panels to both exposed sides of the bath.
  • Installed cladding material to create a durable and water-resistant surface.
  • Secured the new panels and cladding with suitable fixings to reduce movement.
  • Reinforced vulnerable edges and lower sections around the bath surround.
  • Applied waterproof silicone sealant along seams, joints and perimeter connections.
  • Checked panel alignment and adjusted the installation for a neat, practical finish.
  • Tested the sealed areas to confirm improved water containment around the bath.
  • Completed final checks to ensure the installation was secure and suitable for daily use.
  • Cleaned the bathroom work area and removed waste materials after completion.

Challenges & Solutions
  • The existing bath panel was cracked and no longer provided reliable protection — it was removed and replaced with a more secure fitted solution.
  • Water had the potential to escape from the sides and underside of the bath — cladding, fixings and sealed junctions were installed to strengthen the waterproof barrier.
  • The lower sections around the bath required better support — vulnerable edges were reinforced to reduce gaps and improve stability.
  • The bathroom needed a practical solution without a full refurbishment — targeted leak prevention works were completed around the affected bath area.
  • The finished installation needed to be suitable for everyday tenant use — all panels, seals and joints were checked before handover.

Final Outcome

The completed works provided the bathroom with a stronger and more professional waterproofing arrangement. The newly fitted bath panels, cladding and sealed joints now help direct water back into the bath area and reduce the risk of leakage beneath the bath.

The bathroom also has a cleaner and more reliable finish, with the exposed sides better protected against everyday shower use. All fixings and sealed areas were checked during the final inspection, and the work area was left clean and tidy on completion.
