Drainage Repair β Hillside Avenue, Lincoln
Project Overview
British Builders completed drainage repair works at a residential property on Hillside Avenue, Lincoln. A previous drainage camera inspection confirmed that the sewer line beneath the front stairs had collapsed, causing restricted flow towards the main drain.
Rather than removing and rebuilding the staircase, our team carried out a less invasive rerouting solution at the front of the property. The work included excavation, removal of damaged ground sections, installation of new external drainage pipework, connection to the existing sewer line, flow testing and reinstatement of the affected area.
Scope of Work
- Reviewed the drainage camera findings and confirmed the collapsed sewer section beneath the stairs
- Documented the condition before works with site photos and progress records
- Excavated the front area of the property to access the existing drainage route
- Carefully broke out sections of concrete, paving and surrounding ground where required
- Cleared debris, broken brickwork and obstructed material from the working area
- Prepared a new route around the corner of the building to bypass the collapsed section
- Supplied and installed new industry-standard underground drainage pipework
- Connected the new drain run securely to the existing sewer connection point
- Installed new bends, pipe sections and inspection access as required
- Checked alignment, fall and sealing of the new drainage system
- Tested the pipework to confirm proper flow and integrity
- Backfilled and reinstated the excavated area with appropriate materials
- Cleared waste materials and left the front access area tidy
Challenges & Solutions
- The collapsed sewer line was located beneath the front stairs, which made direct access difficult and would have required major disruption.
- To avoid removing and rebuilding the staircase, the drainage was rerouted externally around the building corner.
- The new pipework was installed with proper alignment and access, making the system easier to maintain in future.
Final Outcome
The collapsed drainage section was successfully bypassed with a new rerouted pipe system. Water flow was restored, the new pipework was tested, and the disturbed external area was reinstated and made tidy.
This approach reduced disruption, avoided unnecessary staircase removal and provided a more practical long-term drainage solution for the property.
Client Feedback
