General Building Works — Brownhill Crescent, Leeds
Project Overview
British Builders completed a broad package of general building works at a property on Brownhill Crescent, Leeds. The project focused on resolving damp and water ingress issues linked to external pipework, carrying out repairs to drainage components, and refreshing the property with extensive painting and making-good works.
Although the original issues were concentrated around a few problem areas, the final scope extended across a wider portion of the house to ensure the repairs blended in properly and the overall finish looked clean, consistent and well maintained.
Scope of Work
- Inspected water ingress points and traced damp-related defects linked to external pipework
- Repaired and adjusted damaged drainage components, including pipe sections, hopper areas, brackets and fittings
- Cleared and cleaned sections of external pipework to improve water flow
- Secured loose or misaligned pipework to reduce the risk of further leaks and overflow issues
- Sealed and treated affected areas where previous water penetration had caused internal damage
- Prepared walls and ceilings in affected rooms by scraping back loose material, filling and making good surfaces
- Carried out repainting works across multiple areas of the property for a cleaner and more uniform finish
- Applied finishing coats to refreshed internal and external surfaces where required
- Completed final checks and touch-ups to ensure a tidy, even result throughout the repaired areas
Challenges & Solutions
- Damp staining and blown finishes were visible in several locations — Damaged areas were prepared, repaired and sealed before redecoration.
- External pipework showed signs of wear and poor drainage performance — Components were repaired, realigned and improved to help prevent further ingress.
- The finished work needed to look consistent across the property — Additional painting and making-good were carried out so the repaired sections blended in neatly.
Final Outcome
The property was left in a much improved condition, with damp-affected areas repaired, external drainage components attended to, and a broader decorative refresh completed to restore a cleaner appearance throughout. The completed works improved both the presentation of the house and the protection of previously affected areas.
All repaired sections were checked, touched up where necessary, and left clean and tidy on completion.
