Multi-Trade Repairs β Sheffield
Project Overview
British Builders attended a residential property on Woodall Lane, Sheffield, to inspect and complete a package of plumbing, electrical, external sealing, and minor roof-related repair works. The visit covered several maintenance issues across the property, including a downstairs toilet with loose fittings and a failed internal flush mechanism, an outdoor light causing electrical tripping, and visible openings at high level that required sealing against rainwater, birds, and pests.
The photos show the toilet cistern components, the external light fitting, roofline areas, wall openings, and sections requiring weatherproofing. The works were managed as a coordinated maintenance package rather than separate callouts, helping restore safe use of the facilities, improve external protection, and reduce the risk of further water ingress.
Scope of Work
- Inspected the downstairs toilet, including the cistern, flush components, toilet seat, and sink tap fittings.
- Secured loose sink taps to restore stable day-to-day use.
- Secured the loose toilet seat and checked the toilet pan area for safe use.
- Replaced the faulty internal toilet flush mechanism to restore reliable flushing.
- Traced the electrical tripping issue to the inadequately protected outdoor light.
- Supplied and installed a new weatherproof external light fitting.
- Installed suitable waterproof protection to support safer external electrical operation.
- Inspected visible openings and vulnerable areas at the top of the main building.
- Sealed external wall holes to help prevent rainwater ingress and discourage birds or pests.
- Reviewed the damaged shed roof condition and recommended a more durable flat roof replacement approach where required.
- Cleared the work areas and left the property tidy on completion.
Challenges & Solutions
- Electrical socket tripping indoors β the issue was traced to the external light and resolved with a weatherproof replacement fitting.
- Faulty toilet operation β the failed cistern mechanism was replaced, and loose fittings were secured for reliable use.
- External exposure at high level β holes and vulnerable wall areas were sealed to reduce rainwater ingress and pest access.
- Damaged roof covering and rotten timber framework β a flat roof replacement was recommended as a more practical long-term solution.
Final Outcome
The key plumbing, electrical, and external sealing works were completed as part of one organised maintenance visit. The downstairs toilet was brought back into reliable working order, the loose fittings were secured, and the external light issue was addressed with a safer weatherproof installation.
The high-level wall openings were sealed to improve external protection, while the shed roof condition was assessed and a more suitable replacement method was recommended. The property was left clean and tidy, with the main reported defects either completed or clearly identified for follow-on works.
