Render Repair — Hollycroft Avenue, Wembley
Project Overview
British Builders attended a residential property on Hollycroft Avenue, Wembley, to complete external remedial works to the upper front elevation. The visible areas showed aged render, cracking, damaged decorative panel sections, and worn black fascia/timber detailing around the front bay and upper façade.
The works focused on repairing the damaged render, making good deteriorated sections, preparing the external surfaces, sanding down the black fascia and timber-effect areas shown in the photos, and repainting the repaired sections to improve the overall finish of the property frontage.
Scope of Work
- Inspected the external render, panel areas, fascia boards and black decorative timber sections.
- Checked visible cracks, loose surface areas, flaking paint and deteriorated sections around the upper front elevation.
- Removed loose, damaged and unstable material from the affected render areas.
- Cleaned and prepared the surfaces before repair works.
- Primed the necessary sections to support proper adhesion of repair materials and paint.
- Repaired the damaged render and blended it into the surrounding finish where possible.
- Made good around the vertical and horizontal decorative façade sections.
- Sanded down all black fascias and exposed black timber detailing shown in the work area.
- Removed loose and peeling paint from the black fascia sections.
- Prepared the fascia surfaces for repainting to improve durability and visual consistency.
- Applied exterior-grade paint to the repaired render areas as required.
- Repainted the black fascia and timber sections to restore a cleaner, sharper appearance.
- Applied additional coats where needed for a more even and professional finish.
- Completed touch-ups around edges, joints and repaired sections.
- Carried out a final visual inspection and cleared debris from the work area.
Challenges & Solutions
- The front elevation had multiple visible defects — the affected render and façade sections were inspected before repair preparation began.
- Some areas showed loose and flaking paint — these were sanded down before repainting to improve adhesion.
- The black fascia sections had weathered and uneven surfaces — the team prepared and repainted them to restore a consistent finish.
- The repair areas needed to blend with the existing external façade — render was applied carefully to match the surrounding texture as closely as possible.
- The work was carried out on a visible front elevation — final touch-ups were completed to improve the overall presentation from street level.
Final Outcome
The damaged render and external façade sections were repaired, with loose and deteriorated material removed and the surfaces prepared for a more stable finish. The affected areas were made good and painted to improve the appearance and weather resistance of the property frontage.
The black fascia and timber-effect sections were sanded down and repainted, giving the front elevation a cleaner and more uniform look. The work helped refresh the existing character of the property without changing the original style of the façade.
All completed areas were checked for adhesion, coverage and finish quality, and the surrounding work area was left clean and free from debris.
