Tilt and turn window system repaired in London

Window Repair — London

Project Overview

British Builders attended a property on Bayham Pl, London, to complete window repair and installation works. The existing tilt-and-turn window mechanism required replacement due to poor operation, with the handle and internal components needing attention to restore safe and reliable use.

The work was arranged within a limited access window while guests were out of the flat, requiring careful planning, efficient installation and full testing before completion. Our team inspected the existing frame, removed faulty parts, supplied suitable replacement components and adjusted the window so it could open, tilt, close and lock correctly.

Scope of Work
  • Inspected the existing tilt-and-turn window system
  • Checked measurements and compatibility of replacement parts
  • Removed faulty and damaged window mechanism components
  • Prepared the window frame for new fittings
  • Supplied and installed a new tilt-and-turn operating system
  • Fitted a new magnesium tilt system component
  • Supplied and installed a compatible window handle
  • Aligned and adjusted the window for smooth operation
  • Tested the tilt, turn, closing and locking functions
  • Checked all fittings were secure and safe for regular use
  • Cleared packaging and waste materials from site

Challenges & Solutions
  • The window required work around a tight access schedule — We planned the visit within the requested 10am–2pm window to minimise disruption.
  • The existing tilt-and-turn mechanism was not operating correctly — Faulty components were removed and replaced with a suitable new operating system.
  • The handle and internal system needed correct alignment — The new handle and mechanism were adjusted carefully to restore smooth movement and secure locking.
  • The window needed to remain safe after repair — Full operational testing was completed before handover.

Final Outcome

The window was left fully operational, with a new tilt-and-turn system, replacement magnesium component and new handle installed. The unit was adjusted to open, tilt and lock correctly, improving both usability and safety for the property.

All work areas were left clean and tidy, with packaging and removed materials cleared from site on completion.
